Charities We Support

At Sussman Law Firm, PLLC, giving back is one of our priorities. Since 2017, we have pledged our support to Operation Smile. This charity is very dear to our hearts, as their mission is to provide much-needed repair surgeries to children who have been born with a cleft lip/palate and other facial deformities. In 2018, we also began providing support to Reach Out Orphanage Ministries (also known as ROOM). This non-profit organization provides aid to orphanages in Nepal, India, and Honduras.

Scholarships

2024 Empowering Immigrants Scholarship

Our team at Sussman Law Firm believes in empowering immigrants and first-generation individuals across the United States. Immigration is an essential and vital aspect of the US, and we want to help first-generation students work toward their educational and professional dreams.We are excited to bring back the Empowering Immigrants Scholarship for another year! We aim to do just that by giving back to a student who immigrated to the US or is a first-generation college student.

In 750-1000 words, please share your or your family’s immigration story, what struggles you overcame, and what educational goals you hope to accomplish.

The winner of this scholarship will receive an award of $1,000 toward their college education. All applications must be submitted by September 30th, 2024.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to all current high school students, vocational students, college students, or graduate students residing in a state or the District of Columbia that is a legal resident of the United States and enrolled in a two to five-year post-secondary institution.
Students applying for this scholarship must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
This competition is not open to Sussman Law Firm employees, their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, and spouses), and persons living in the same households as such employees.

Application Requirements

The candidate must submit an essay of up to 1000 words to the following prompt: Share your or your family’s immigration story, what struggles you overcame, and why, through it all, you and your family keep going to reach your dreams.
- Please note that all essays will be checked for AI writing. If AI writing is deemed present in the essay, the application will be denied.
Submission of a professional resumé that lists their professional and academic experience is required.
The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students must also submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.

Application Deadline and Instructions:

To qualify for this scholarship, candidates must complete the form below with all necessary information (including a resume, transcript, and essay) by September 30, 2024. Any applications sent after this date will not be considered.

Mother's Day at Sussman

Sussman Law Firm attended a fantastic event organized by local Latina tech professionals in Charlotte. Funded by Latinx community organizations, the event focused on diversity and inclusion, and provided a great platform for Latinas in the tech industry to connect and support one another! We were thrilled to be part of such a collaborative gathering.
