Our team at Sussman Law Firm believes in empowering immigrants and first-generation individuals across the United States. Immigration is an essential and vital aspect of the US, and we want to help first-generation students work toward their educational and professional dreams.

With our Empowering Immigrants Scholarship, we wanted to give back to a student who immigrated to the US. After hundreds of scholarship applications, we are excited to announce that we have chosen Catalina Guillamont as our winner! Congratulations Catalina!

Catalina Guillamont

Catalina Guillamont is a distinguished high school senior at MAST Academy in Miami, Florida, where she consistently excels in her studies, earning top grades. Beyond her academic success, she is a passionate advocate for her community, spearheading projects that uplift marginalized groups, particularly those with disabilities. Catalina aspires to double major in neuroscience and psychology before attending law school to pursue a career as a criminal lawyer. Originally from Spain, she moved to the United States at the age of eight, overcoming numerous challenges as an immigrant. Through her resilience and dedication, she has emerged as a strong voice for those who are often silenced or overlooked.

Omar Takruri

Omar Takruri is a sophomore at The Ohio State University studying Computer Science and Engineering. He moved from to the United States from Jordan at age 15, and we were moved by his aspirations to help others who have been in similar situations. Omar hopes one day to establish a non-profit organization aimed on assisting new immigrants in the US.
